GeoBox recreates the Fifth Aztec Sun at Stuttgart’s Linden Museum

MatrixWorks Europe BV and Dutch integrator MAV Techniek have collaborated to create a light-and-sound projection of the Creation of the Fifth Aztec Sun, using GeoBox ‘warping’ processors during the Azteken exhibition at the Linden Museum in Stuttgart. Launched last October and taking place until May 3rd across a variety of venues, the exhibition showcases than 100 Aztec relics from Mexico’s Museum of Anthropology and History, and the Museum of the Templo Mayor.

Two GeoBox G116 video processor ‘warping boxes’ were used alongside two Canon WUX5800z projectors with Canon RS-SL05WZ lenses (throw ratio 1.0 – 1.50:1) to create the curved background projection image of the Aztec sun on two screens; whilst a third Canon WUX5800z projector with Canon RS-SL06UW ultra wide zoom lens was used to project images onto the huge Aztec stone. Content was synched with three Brightsign HD224 media players, controlled by the Pharos LPC1 show controller.

In April, the exhibition will be transported to the Weltmuseum in Vienna, where the GeoBox G116 processors will blend the images from the Canon projectors onto two cornered walls. It will later transport to Museum Leiden in the Netherlands.
