Projection based Simulator

Flight simulation

Overview

A reference design of projection based flight simulator. Projecting on a curved wall measuring approximately 6 meters wide and 1 meter high.

Reference design

  • Projectors: With carefully controlled ambient lighting, projectors with 4000 lumens or higher and a minimum FHD resolution. To ensure proper image warping and geometric alignment, please note that projectors with throw ratio shorter than 0.8:1 should not be used.

*Use our edge blending calculator to determine the optimized configuration of projector specifications and quantity.

  • Image processing: Use GeoBox M813 to adjust images on a curved screen, split the image into three parts, and then blend them together.

  • Input source: Use a high-performance gaming PC to run the simulator software and send the signal to M813. For better image quality, try to use a graphics card that can output custom 8K/1K resolution.

Projecting on a curved wall measuring approximately 25 meters wide and 3 meters high.

How to select the right projectors

Based on the size of the wall (s), viewing distance, and ambient light, you can decide how many projectors you need to cover the wall, and to decide the specifications of the projectors, such as brightness, resolution and throw ratio.  Click below article to get the tips on projector selection.
