A better solution for your multi-projector edge blending project

How to combine multi-projector projected images into one large image?

When combining projected images from two or more projectors to create a larger image, you’ll be asked to convert the source into multiple outputs.  That can be done by having the source PC equipped with multiple graphic cards and a solution to crop and lay-out content to each output, but, what if you want to use non-PC source, like media player or digital camera…etc?   As most would agree that PC can be unstable sometime and there could be many compatibility issues to worry about. In this article, we want to recommend you a better option – A “PC free” pure hardware based image controller.  You can use it to crop image into multiple pieces, assign them to projectors, and also to precisely crop them with overlap regions.

Why hardware controller is better than PC software solution?

GeoBox image controller is also known as GeoBox video wall controller. Comparing to conventional PC software solution, GeoBox is a hardware, standalone system, which allows more freedom in multi-projector application, including:

  1. Any input signal source can be utilized
  2. Easy to scale up by cascading multiple controllers (no limitation on qty)
  3. Support any non-standard input resolution
  4. It’s easier to set overlap region through box and no need to change from source content
  5. Swap source or change image resolution without any reconfiguration.
  6. For portrait projection, it’s easier to rotate each projected image through controller and not from source content.
  7. Easy to increase system resolution
  8. Flexible aspect ratio adjustment for the entire system
  9. Accurate image cropping

How does GeoBox controller work in multi-projector application?

Among all GeoBox video wall controllers, G406 is the model which is mostly used in multi-projector application. G406 is a four-channel video processor, which allow user to crop video into multiple pieces and distribute to up to four projectors in the needed display format (for example, with overlap for edge blending, orientaion, or in different size, aspect ratio) . If you have more than 4 projectors, you can cascade multiple controllers via HDMI loop-through port.  No need to run through software in PC with multiple graphic cards!  Visit G406 page.

The capability of independent image rotation/flip, scaling, and cropping per channel can be very helpful in some advanced application, for example, cropping different size image for corner wall application, or to edge blend multiple projectors in portrait position. In summary, GeoBox G406 is a perfect solution for you to easily manage images for projector edge blending with a lot of flexibility. If you want to know more about the detail, click to download G406 Projector Application note.

Please note that G406 doesn’t have warping and edge blending functions. If your projectors have no built-in warping or edge blending functions, Please use GeoBox edge blending controllers.  Which is an all-in-one box having all functions for multiple projector edge blending, including “what’s provided by G406–“image control functions”; geometric adjustment, and edge blending.
