Projection Mapping in Japan Kyoto Kodai-ji Temple

GeoBox was selected for the Kyoto Kodai-ji Temple

In 2023, while several symbolic projects were being completed consecutively in Europe, GeoBox in Japan also made significant progress. Earlier this year, GeoBox was selected for the Kyoto Kodai-ji Temple (京都 高台寺) projection. Please refer to the full story written by Japan Material in this link.

Why was GeoBox chosen?

Here is a summary of the technical reasons why GeoBox was chosen:

  1. Content Simplification:
They needed to simplify content production and management, which was cumbersome with their previous equipment setup involving one-to-one BrightSign players and projectors. GeoBox offered a solution to streamline this process.
  2. Error Reduction:
The splitting functionality allowed them to reduce errors and complexities related to synchronizing multiple BrightSign players.
  3. Efficiency in Content Creation:
The capabilities enabled them to produce content more efficiently, reducing the time spent on adjustments and allowing their content production team to focus on content creation.
  4. On-Site Calibration:
GeoBox facilitated easy adjustments and on-site calibration during the projection mapping event, providing instant results and flexibility.

How was GeoBox used?

The GeoBox models used were M803, and G406L

  1. M803:
Chosen to address tight projection angles on the dry landscape garden side, where precise adjustments were required.  Go to  edge blending and warping controllers.
  2. G406L:
Selected for the gate side to save on budget, primarily for tiling and adjusting blend widths, with blending and basic geometric corrections handled by the projectors themselves.  Go to video controllers.
