Epson x GeoBox 8K/4K demo event

It was our great pleasure to hold a 2-day private demo event together with Epson last month on the premises of our Dutch distributor, Fairlight.  Click below video and watch the event highlights. 👉

During the demo, GeoBox UD100 was showcased to geometrically control two 4K outputs from Epson EB-L1755U. Input source was a 8K/2K live streamed image from Google map. Thanks to pure hardware design of GeoBox solution, no content pre-editing is needed here. Powerful PIP/POP of UD100 allows PIP (sub) images to be placed in any location and in any size on the projection-blended installation. Multi-viewer feature allows up to four split views to be created in each output channel. Profile saving function provides ultimate flexibility for user to save and hot switch among multiple user pre-defined display settings.

We had many interesting Q&As with visitors during these 2 days. Here we summarize the most asked ones as below, and hope they’ll bring you some inspirations:
  1. How can I control and configure the box?
All GeoBox models are easy to set up and controlled via an IR controller, RS232, USB (PC tool) or Ethernet.
  2. How many projector can be controlled through the box?
UD100 is in modularized design. There are 5 options in UD100 series configured in one to four modules controlling from one to four projectors, and an additional striped back (no edge-blending) single module warping box.  Each module is equipped with four inputs (3x HDMI2.0; 1x DP1.4) and one output (HDMI 2.0). They can be daisy-chained (via HDMI 2.0 loop-through port) to support more than four projectors, and there is no limitation on how many boxes can be cascaded.
  3. What kind of image warp can be done in UD100?
Through geometric alignment of up to 17×17 control points (by remote control) or up to 33×33 control points (by PC tool), user can warp image on most irregular surfaces, such as curved wall, pillar, sphere, and corner (surface with angle).
  4. Can I save the settings?
Yes, all customized settings can be saved as profile, and up to 10 profiles can be saved into the box. When there is profile saved, user can switch it from one to the other by using remote control hot key. You can also use PC tool to save the settings as a file, and then load the file into another box.
  5. How about the latency?
    2 frames system latency: <33ms (@V=60Hz)
  6. Can output channels be synchronized?
Yes, all GeoBox has the function [Frame Sync] to synchronize all outputs based on the input signal vertical sync.
  7. Do I need to create extra pixels from the content for edge blending?
No, that’s not necessary. You can send content from any device in any format, and use the box to control how you want the projectors to display the content(s), and that’s including cropping more pixels for edge blending.
  8. Can I adjust input resolution?
Yes, UD100 support input resolution of up to 8K/2K or true 4K, even non-VESA standard input timing is supported once signal source can provide, such as 4096×2160, 3200×2400, and it’s adjustable through EDID setting.
  9. Can I change output resolution?
Yes, output resolution can be selected from OSD menu and can be adjusted anytime.
  10. Can I use UD100 if my content resolution is higher than 8K/2K?
Yes, as UD100 is equipped with multiple inputs, you can split high resolution content into multiple pieces (each one doesn’t exceed 8K/2K@30hz), and use UD100 to combine them into one super high resolution image.
  11. I am not using 4K projectors, but FHD or WUXGA, do you have solution for that?
Yes, GeoBox M800 and G800 are equipped with the same warping and edge blending functions but support output only up to 1920×1200@60hz. They are in lower price comparing to UD100.
  12. Can I edge blend images both vertically and horizontally? (for example, to combine 4 projections in 2×2)
Yes, you can split and locate images in both vertical and horizontal directions, and edge blending is available in 4 edges, that allows you to edge blend images vertically and horizontally.
