G901, all-round multi-purpose controller: Multi-viewer, ultra-high resolution, 3D, Seamless switching & more..

“In a university lecture hall, students watched as a professor used a large display to explore a complex engineering model. With multi-viewer mode, students could observe and learn from various content simultaneously. One window displayed schematics of the engineering model, another showed online technical resources, and a third featured a guest speaker joining remotely. To enhance learning, the content could be presented and viewed in 3D that brings the model to life in stunning detail. Besides, the seamless switching ensured smooth transitions, while pixel-to-pixel premium image quality guaranteed that every detail remained sharp and clear.”

Do any of the above applications sound familiar to you? Have you received similar requests from your clients? Until now, only complex solutions were available.

Good news: The G901 is here to realize all these needs with ease. Yes, you heard it right—just one G901, a small yet powerful multi-functional controller, enables all the tricks from 3D conversion to multi-viewer seamless switching.

Application 1: Multi-viewer from multiple sources

GeoBox’s ability to support nearly any playback device is extremely useful when you need to utilize the same display area for various tasks. Typically, you might use a media player for video playback and a laptop for PowerPoint presentations. G901 offers exceptional flexibility by enabling seamless source switching or simultaneous playback (multi-view), from multiple sources, and in any customized resolution (up to 7680×1200@60hz).

Here’s a practical example from higher education in the Netherlands to illustrate how this works:  Creating large projection in School Theater for multiple purposes (Netherlands)

Application 2: Creating ultra-high resolution signal source

For improved system reliability, a dedicated playback device, such as a BrightSign media player, is often used. However, most of these devices don’t support non-standard high-resolution signals, making them less than ideal for projects requiring smaller pixel pitch images. While it’s possible to achieve high-resolution edge blending images using input from separate playback devices, users must create repeated pixels between each connected part of individual signals for edge blending overlap in advance. This is less flexible than using a single source input and setting up the overlap region via GeoBox, which allows installers to accommodate on-site changes without altering content.  In this scenario, the G901 becomes a powerful tool when used with other GeoBox devices, combining multiple sources into one source at any custom resolution.

For example, to achieve an ultra-wide system resolution (7680×1200), content is first arranged in two 4K sources (A & B in the diagram) and sent to the GeoBox front end processor (G901). This combines multiple sources into one side-by-side signal in a custom 7680×1200@60Hz resolution and outputs to M810 edge blending processors. Without the G901, content would be sent to the M810 as separate sources, requiring users to create overlap pixels in advance—a potentially significant hassle for installers.

Application 3: 5-to-1 Seamless switcher

G901 can be used as a 5-in/1-out UHD seamless switcher. There will be no frame loss when switching among sources, and it means that when you apply different source to projector, there will be NO more time spending on re-searching input source.

Application 4: 3D format converter

G901 supports 3D format conversion function, which can convert HDMI 1.4 standard 3D format (side by side, top/bottom, frame sequential, line interleaved, frame packed, discrete dual camera…etc.) into side by side, top/bottom and frame sequential 3D output format.  It can also decode 3D signal into discrete RH or LH for passive 3D display. As Line interleaved format is usually used by medical device while which cannot be supported by most 3D devices.  You can use G901 to convert Line interleaved 3D format into other 3D format so it can be played by the 3D device.  (as below picture)

Along with the popularity of AR/VR application, G901 is also used to combine signals from dual cameras into one 3840*1080 side by side or frame sequential 3D format for HMD 3D display

Application 5: Programmable output resolution

Last but not the least, the function of programmable output resolution enables G901 an ideal LED wall front end processor if user wants to matain true “pixel-to-pixel” display quality. G901 allows you to crop images with specific resolutions and location from the signal source, and then output it to LED wall in optimized resolutions (user programmable). As LED wall is usually with non-standard image resolutions, by doing so, the best image quality and aspect ratio can be maintained.

multi-viewer

G901 has five inputs (3x HDMI 2.0b and 2x DisplayPort 1.4) and one output (HDMI2.0), supporting max. input resolution 4096×2160@60Hz or 7680×2160@30Hz, and output max. resolution 4096*2400 @60Hz. It supports RGB 4:4:4 chroma sampling without compression, and BT.2020 HDR10 input signal processing.  Click here to go to G901 product page.
